Jarryd grew up in Victoria British Columbia, Canada. He played 4 years in the British Columbia Hockey League for the Powell River Kings and Prince George Spruce Kings. He received a hockey scholarship and began his undergraduate education studying Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. In his last year at Wilfrid Laurier he became the assistant strength and conditioning coach of the Men’s Hockey Team and he pursued an undergraduate thesis which led him to publish an article as a Co-author:

During his hockey career he had multiple injuries and spent countless hours in chiropractic offices and physiotherapy therapy clinics.  This experience fueled him to become a sports chiropractor.  Jarryd attended the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon where he received his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Doctorate of Chiropractic. In addition he completed a Masters in Sports Medicine as well as became a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician® (CCSP®) where he obtained extensive experience working with active individuals and professional athletes.
